Turkey Retreat

Damien and I have just returned from the South of Turkey, where I was teaching my annual ‘Yoga and Healing Retreat.’ It's one of the highlights of our year.

It's such a special treat to travel to another country, and be surrounded all week with such lovely, wonderful people, inspiring them on their own personal healing journeys.

The location is totally exquisite. We were tucked away in a quiet bay, that overlooks Oludeniz, in a breath-taking and beautiful coastal area called the Turquoise coast.

The private beaches are magical, with so much salty water, you really can float on the top!

The beaches sweep around the bays with crystal clear sea water. And the weather was so lovely and hot, with temperatures around 30-35 degrees, and some days even rising to 40 degrees! Yoga clothes, long, floaty beach dresses and swim wear were the dress code for the day…

Plus, did I mention that the food is delicious! So fresh, healthy and tasty. Mmmm......

It was such a special experience, with incredible memories created that last for lifetimes.

What's It All About?

The yoga retreat is a whole week completely dedicated to connecting with our bodies and inner body wisdom.

During the week I encourage people to listen to care for themselves. To nourish themselves on all levels. To listen to the call of the creative spirit that lives inside them. We practice gentle yoga, breathe deeply, swim, creative writing, journalling, practice candle light evening meditations and visualisations. In the afternoons, I hold healing sessions that can help activate and awaken the deep wisdom that I believe already lives within each of us.

Healing is an active but gentle inner communion - a kind, open and loving conversation between your body and your mind, that can only happen when you listen to the inner guidance that lives within you; in your heart, in your desires and in your dreams.

The retreat lasts for a whole week and each day on the retreat, I actively encourage participants to listen to and follow their own intuitive guidance. And, to trust the information that they receive.

Are they called to sleep in that day or do gentle morning, stretchy yoga classes with me in the Yoga Shala? To have time alone or be with the rest of the group?

I Encourage Them to Honour That Inner Wisdom.

And then again, after breakfast, I encourage them to listen to that intuitive guidance again…

Do they want to go to the beach? Or lie by the pool? Attend the evening meditation and healing sessions? Take an afternoon siesta? Watch sunsets? Be social or take some time out?

I believe that each of us have the power to live our most amazing life when we trust our inner voice. As sensitive souls, we must honour our journeys and nurture ourselves from within. This means looking after ourselves and our bodies. This means doing what we really  want to do, not what society or our families want us to do.

When we let go of the judgment (that can come from others and even from our inner critic), then we can pay close attention to what are we being guided towards. In this place, we can take a closer look at some of the things and stories that we are ready to release, and to let go of.

Look Within - What is Your Intuition Guiding You Towards?

Remember that no-one knows you or your body, better than you.

Listen to the beat of your own rhythm. Trust your own intuitive answers and guidance. Whatever intuitive answers you receive are yours. Nobody knows what you should or shouldn't be doing with your life. You don't have to do what you think you should do, or what someone else thinks would be good for you.

Do what makes you feel good. Do what you really want to do. Do the things that make your heart soar with excitement and joy!

As Joseph Campbell so beautifully said, 'Follow your bliss!'
