In my many years of teaching international yoga retreats, I have noticed that the people who experience really deep and long lasting transformation, are the ones who are often least expecting it.
So how do you know if a yoga retreat is right for you? Here are 4 questions to help you to discover it for yourself...
1. Are you feeling tired, stressed or burnt out?
If you are feeling tired, stressed or burnt out, then attending a yoga retreat will provide you with an amazing
opportunity to relax and unwind. Escaping from the constant pressures and demands from your everyday life
will provide you with a unique opportunity to see things from a different perspective...
Melanie, a nurse from the UK had a demanding work life. When she arrived at one of my ‘Yoga and Healing
Retreats’ she felt totally exhausted and in desperate need of a break. She left the yoga retreat a different
woman: singing, dancing, joyfully eating chocolate gelato and much to her own surprise, even doing
cartwheels! On the last day of the retreat, she took me aside and shared that she felt 10 years younger, totally
nourished and ready to go back to her life.
2. Are you in physical, mental or emotional pain?
If you are physically, mentally or emotionally suffering from pain, it can be a sign that your life is out of
balance. Going on a yoga retreat will give you the chance to learn holistic healing tools that can help you to
rebalance your body and your life.
Sarah-Helena, a talented and gifted singer-song-writer from Sweden, connected with her inner knowing
which told her it was time to quit smoking. By deeply committing to her yoga and meditation practice, she
was easily able to stop smoking for good.
3. Are you undergoing a period of transformation or change.
If you are contemplating making some changes in your career, your relationship or in any area of your life,
then going on a yoga retreat can help to support and inspire you on your journey of transformation.
Yoga retreats provide a safe environment to help you to expand your vision for what’s possible in your life and
are a great place to explore new options.
Lizzie had recently lost her job due to a company restructure and at the same time, was in the process of
separating from her husband. Being at the yoga retreat, she was able to clearly see that the time had come
to put herself first and finally go after her dreams.
4. Are you feeling stuck, blocked or frustrated?
If you are someone who feels stuck, blocked or frustrated, attending a yoga retreat can offer you the chance
to reconnect with your natural creative flow.
Being at a yoga retreat will give you the time to be with yourself, away from distractions and expectations of
others so that you can connect with what is most important to you.
Ruth lived a very controlled life in which everything was counted and measured. She felt stuck and frustrated.
When she was on the retreat she realised that she was bored with her life. When she got back home, she
took 6 months leave from her job to go travelling. Upon returning home, she trained as a yoga teacher and
now does meaningful work that she loves.
So could you benefit from a Yoga Retreat? Perhaps the best way to find out is to just pack your bags and go!
