Have you been feeling sluggish lately? Does your body feel stiff and tight? Have you been craving coffee, sugar or fake foods?
Before my health crisis, when I was feeling exhausted and run down, I was virtually relying on stimulants such as coffee, sugar, fake foods and alcohol to give me energy.
But, when I discovered that there are some simple ways that I could introduce into my life, to increase my energy, I was beyond excited! And that was when everything started to shift for me. Plus, no diets, drugs or deprivation either.
Here are 3 ways that you can easily re-energise your body…
1. Fuel your body with real foods.
As I talk about in my book Losing Weight is a Healing Journey, when I started on my healing journey I had to learn about real foods and supplements. Specifically, I had to learn how to properly feed my body with the kind of foods that nourished and healed it.
I learnt that not only was I chronically dehydrated, but I was extremely deficient in micro-nutrients and consequently had thyroid, adrenal, liver and digestion issues.
Eating more real foods and adding therapeutic nutritional supplements into my life, made a monumental difference in a very short period of time.
As a rule, many people are extremely deficient in minerals. Some of the most common are magnesium, Vitamin B, Zinc and Vitamin C. A simple tip is to add into your diet a high quality greens powder. This can quickly boost your micro-nutrient levels and make a big difference to your energy levels.
2. Consciously re-connect back to your body.
When life gets busy, it’s totally natural to attend to other people, and in the process become disconnected from your body and its’ needs.
Your body is amazing and can usually deal with acute stress, if it’s just for a short period of time. Where it becomes problematic is when you are dealing with chronic stress over many months or years. If this is you, then take this as a sign that it is time to slow down, reconnect back to your body and focus on some self-care.
Self care means taking the time to check in with yourself and your body. As in any good relationship, it is important to invest time in building a healthy relationship and this starts with taking the time to connect with your body. You can do this in the shower or in the bathroom.
I find that self-massage is a powerful way to check in with my body and myself. As you connect with your body through physical touch ask with kindness and curiousity “How does my body feel?” Does it feel tired? Or tight? Or happy? Notice if you experience any pain or discomfort?
Once you have made this initial connection with yourself, now is a really good time to send some nourishing and loving thoughts to yourself.
Thoughts create things and things manifest in your mind. So, use the power of your mind and your thoughts to consciously create the energy and body that you really want to experience.
3. Gently stretch, open and move your body.
Being a highly sensitive person, I have always shied away from group physical activities and competitive sports. And, as a result, I grew up thinking that I hated exercise.
But what I realized was that whilst I didn’t enjoy grueling cardio exercise I did love the feeling that came from moving my body and experiencing energy start to move in my body and flow in my life. I discovered that feeling brings me alive!
The kind of movement I am talking about is the kind that wakes you up and allows you to feel alive and excited. This doesn’t mean that you have to sweat it out at the gym, do cardio until you feel exhausted believe the mantra no pain, no gain.
Always start with gentle stretches. Take your time to tune into your body and move slowly with consciousness and awareness.
Moving your body in this way gives you more energy on a holistic level since it affects you; physically, mentally and emotionally.
The key thing is to breathe deeply. Find a nice easy breath for you. If you can, try to breathe in and out through your nose. If this is difficult for you, simply breathe consciously in a way that feels relaxed and natural for you.
You can stretch your body sitting or lying down or standing up using a wall for support if you like. Maybe you want to do some small wrist or ankle circles, or some bigger leg or hip stretches. Other gentle movements might be yoga, walking or swimming. Yoga means unity and I like to think of this as unity between your body and your mind. When I practice
Let your new adventure begin. Choose so something that is really fun for you and leaves you feeling totally inspired and excited. And, who knows where this energy will lead you? I loved yoga so much that with time, I transformed it into my career!

You will feel more connected to your dreams, your intuition and to the natural rhythms of your life. With more energy in your mind and body, life becomes more fun and enjoyable!
